PR, Films and Fantasies

Posted on: June 2, 2010

Last night I hosted the launch of #PR_BUZZ – the first academic journal written by PR students.

It basically contains 8 articles submitted by 8 students (funny how numbers match :)) on current issues in the PR field. We covered various themes: from (obviously) the impact of new media on PR, crisis management, political PR, PR tools (my little article on SMNRs), PR and recession, the image of PR in the pop culture (is Samantha Jones the ultimate PR lady???).

They will all soon be uploaded here where you can still find some articles from last year.

After the intro speech (by me and Pete, our amazing tutor), we split into two groups, one covering the optimistic approach to the future of the industry and the other, the more negative articles. We (the students) started to talk a bit about our pieces and all of a sudden everybody joined an endless and very interesting discussion with real life examples coming from the PROs and opinions and millions of questions from the students. We wrapped it up with a summary of the conclusions we all got to and an extra hour of wine, nibbles, talking and a loot of networking.

I’d just like to once again thank all the PR professionals who joined us last night as it was an incredible experience for all of us.  We had people from @graylingmidland @hasilmanntaylor @willoughbypr @kineticPR @clarkesteam @screenMediaLab and some of the lovely staff at BCU Media.
